Grandma’s Simple Apple Cake
Ingredients:
5 egg whites
1 cup sugar
5 egg yokes
1.5-2 cups flour
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
3-5 large, peeled and diced apples
Directions:
Beat the egg whites until they rise and become white and foamy.
Next add all the ingredients in order of appearance above and beat well until incorporated before adding the next ingredient.
Once your batter is uniform in consistency, add the apples and mix them into the batter.
Spray your bunt cake form with oil, then pour in the apple/batter mixture.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake the cake for about 40 minutes. Test for doneness with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out with some dough stuck to it, cook for 10 minutes longer. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done.
This recipe is super simple and doesn’t require baking skills, calls for only 5 ingredients and super healthy without butter, oils, or heavy cream. It’s mostly apples! Enjoy!
You can play with quantity of sugar and the type of apples for sweetness or tartness.
